Self-government is not a spectator sport!

The American People are responsible for selecting and sustaining state leaders who understand, and will exercise, their constitutional duty to preserve and maintain this balance and allocation of powers central to the structure of our government. Self-government is not a spectator sport! To the degree the American People do not exercise this right (and responsibility), the power vacuum will be filled by others with self-serving motivations.

  • Compound Republic

To secure these rights of the American People, the Framers created an unprecedented structure of government. This singular structure of government divides governing power delegated by the People between two distinct governments, national and state. (The Framers describe this unique structure of government as a “Compound Republic.” Federalist No 51). This structure of government is characterized and preserved by a meticulous allocation and balance of governing powers and responsibilities between State and National governments. It is this balance and “fragmentation of power” that is “central to liberty” and to securing the rights of the American People. NFIB v. Sebellius, (2012, Justice Scalia dissent).

  • Oath to Uphold.

The legitimacy of each government in this federal structure is sustained only to the extent this balance and allocation of governing powers and responsibilities is vigilantly guarded and preserved. The legitimacy of our governing structure is directly undermined to the degree this balance and allocation of powers is not scrupulously guarded and preserved. All state and national officials take office by oath to uphold this constitutional structure. (Article VI, U.S. Constitution). l begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.

  • Primary Constitutional Responsibility.

It is the responsibility of the States, and state officials, to restrict and restrain the national government to the balance and allocation of powers and responsibilities delegated to it. Only the States have the ability (and the constitutional duty) to check and restrain the national government to the powers delegated to it. This is the primary constitutional responsibility of state officials. This is their number one job. All else in our federated system is contingent upon this balance.

  • Energy

The power to direct what type of energy we can use, when, where and how was never delegated to the national government in the Constitution.

  • Education

Local control of education empowers citizens to discuss and work together towards the best education outcomes.

  • Elections

Maintaining trust, integrity, and local accountability for our systems of elections requires your informed involvement.

  • Economy

The national government has assumed powers over much of our life through the economy. Restoring a balance with the states creates greater freedom and opportunities for all.

Acting Like “The Boss” Again

Restoring Governing Balance & Securing Our Rights

In our America, it is up to self-governing Americans to select and sustain the state leaders who understand their primary job is to restore and maintain the allocation and balance of governing powers between the national government and the states which secures our Life, Liberty, Property and Pursuit of Happiness. We are “the boss” in our governing enterprise.

Like any ongoing concern, if “the boss” doesn’t mind the store, the consequences affect the entire enterprise. Fortunately, the recipe for restoring and maintaining governing balance is simple (though not necessarily easy).

For most Americans, they don’t realize they are the sovereign (the boss) of our governing enterprise and they have never been exposed to the rights and responsibilities of self-government. Many American are concerned about our government and simply don’t realize the solution rest with them. Exposed these basic truths about our unique governing structure, many Americans will be disposed to take simple actions to exercise their self-governing responsibility.
