The Founders made the People the source of all governing power — what they called “sovereignty.” That word is often misunderstood today, so we say it the way they meant it: the People are the boss of Americaʼs governing enterprise. Not the bossy boss — the responsible servant leader. The bad news: we are responsible for our government. The good news: we are response-able — able to restore the balance that secures our rights and the blessings of liberty to our posterity
